As some may have heard and/or seen, I've gotten a bit back into Dragon Ball the Breakers as of late. Whether it's because of my strange love/hate fixation with the asymmetrical game genre like it and DBD (and the antics that come with that), a need for a "filler" game to waste time with, or just wanting to see my tiny old man Create-a-Character somehow overcome the odds set against him... I've been making my way through the latest season and the Raider that has come with it:

A Picture of a Problem, Broly from Dragon Ball the Breakers

Broly.

Specifically the Dragon Ball Super Broly - which most folks enjoy, myself included. And he makes sense as a Raider and I'm happy to see him getting a slot. That said... I do not currently like playing against Broly. At all.

It just seems like it is too easy for him to quickly and heavily put the Survivor team on the back foot in the early game, especially in skilled hands. To the point that it feels like the match is more or less over before it started or you're having to fight back from a serious deficit. Though, as always, a well-coordinated Survivor team (or with an inexperienced Broly player) can still pull out a victory - though usually one that still doesn't come together until Super Time Machine phase.

And, in having conversations here and there about it, I feel like I know why. A bit of personal pet peeve and some mechanics that I feel need some serious tweaking to make him more reasonable for a randomly assembled group of Survivors to deal with. All presented below in my usual unnecessarily long fashion beneath the Read More.

Quick (for me, anyway) follow-up.

Have done a few more matches (with only 1-2 not being a Broly) after I wrote this specifically with Charming Pose in place of Instant Transmission in my "Anti-Broly" loadout (the others are still Missile, Grappling Tool, and Energy Barrier). And it does actually help some in facing him in general - either he can't do anything because he's burned his break strike prior to get over somewhere, or he has to use it now and not have it later.

That said, even with the latter, he still has just used a break strike that gives him a bunch of buffs and potentially a shield as he comes screaming after you in retaliation for stunning him. So if he has it up and burns it to nullify the stun, he can use the speed boost (and possibly the charge) for that and I still haven't consistently managed to get away without all three other skills up too (and usually need transformation as well). Still feels like it can potentially help for the "Broly Opener" I mentioned, though... as long as the weird "which goes first" interactions work in your favor and you don't just get punched out of it.

... That said, ever since I slapped it on, I haven't had too many Brolies rush my particular spawn point. It's like they know... or I've just been pretty lucky. Because the one time out of all these matches where they did, the sound of the Charm went off but the stun didn't as Broly just punched me square in the jaw instead. Hence my addendum above on its effectiveness.

Mallow's back! In frog form! I've been eager to play this as soon as it got announced - the remake for Super Mario RPG on the Switch!

Gonna play this one from start to finish, since I haven't played SMRPG in a while. See how much I remember, how much has changed, all that good stuff. Know a little bit of what is coming (which I won't say here, of course), but haven't watched any play beyond the official ads and such for it.

Hey, Geno is back!
And that frog Mallow as well!
I'm so excited!

Stream over!

The remake has been an absolute delight so far. Took a bit to get used to the Timed Hit... uh... timings again, but we're back on track I think. We managed to get all the way through getting Geno and the second star too, so next time is heading over to Moleville!

Special thanks to @ryyudo for the raid during!

And afterward, we raided over to notable SMRPG knower @tietuesday as he plays some Under Night In-Birth 2!
